I'm bad at updating.

So I run a few blogs....and this one gets updated the least. Sorry.
I just returned from lacrosse practice. I found a guy taking shots on a goal near Destiny's old school back in December. His name is Don and his son also plays lacrosse. I talked with him briefly the I met him and we swapped numbers in case he needed another player for them Firefighter team he wanted to start up for a summer league. Don called me so I've been showing up for practices, some of which only he and I showed up to. I guess fire fighters aren't as dependable when off-duty. This week and last we managed to has 6 guys total. Which made things fun enough to get rough and get tired. My buddy Pickkle from high school visited in the beginning of May and brought some of my old lacrosse gear from Houston. Playing without gloves is totally different and with. This week 3 guys has gloves and 3 new guys had purchased their own sticks. That's nice- and shows some sort of dedication (at least to come to practice).
I played lacrosse through my high school years, but couldn't find anyone to play with when I moved to Nebraska. So, my (ancient) gear has been untouched since 2000. It's nice to be back into it again-something different than bikes.
Here are a few images from the last practice in May.

We weren't doing anything fast or challenging. I did alot of feeding from behind the goal so the newbies can get a feel for catching and shooting on the goal. We didn't a crease around the goal (forbidden for offensive players to step into), but we did our best. No goalie either. All in good time. At the least we have a goal to shoot on.

oops.

My birthday came and passed and I forgot to make a post. Oh well. You get older every year, no big deal right?
Well Sara and I made it out of the house on our own for the first time since...well, I can't remember when. My mothers watched the kiddos and we made our way to CRAZY BUFFET, a gnarly Asian buffet with all you can eat tempura, sushi, and sashimi. Among other things as well. We had our usually plum wine, and gorged ourselves on food, then finished up with chocolate fondue and a bit of ice cream.
After that we were ready for a movie, but our first picked started 20 minutes before we arrived, so our back-up was THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT. Wild flick. I recommend it to those who enjoy haunting movies.
We forgot our cameras for the evening so no visual record of the night was made- sad us.

Tomorrow is Gavin's second birthday, and my life-long pal, Mike, will be driving in with his wife Jessica from Houston. They will stay the weekend with us then head to Orlando to do the tourist thang.
I'll photo tomorrows events.

Fixed Fight Weekend

I spent all night Friday getting this bike ready to show at Fixed Fight 3 on Saturday morning. I finshed the build at 5am, then went to bed (or couch in this case) for a few hours before my grandmother arrived for the first babysitting shift. I was at Cafe Bohemia from Noon until 8:30 pm. I was wasted- energy wise. I rode half of the FF3 course and took a few images and video. I'll post afterward.
The QuickSliver was a hit. I built it up with lots of MTB parts, so some folks were thrown off of its intended use. Is is a 29er? Or a fixed gear? Yes. I figure this is a fixed cross bike of sorts. Plenty of room for knobbies or the 700x35 commutting tires I had installed. The 20mm thru axle MTB fork made for conversation as well. Hopefully, I will make a custom fork for this beast in the future.
Tampa local Dave Horst won the race; he and I will be collaborating on a custom frame for him to continue his winning streak. Good Job Dave.

Weekend Wrap-Up.

I was able to get some stuff taken care of:

Mowed and weed-eated the lawn, and trimmed back dead brush. We have a 'dock' in the back over looking what used to be a nice water reservoir, but is currently muddy muck; well I managed to cut down all the over growth of palnts and small trees prohibiting it's use. The steps to the lower landing have all but rotted away and will need to be replaced. There were 2 small trees growing up through the bottom that I "took care of." They won't be back.

My James Frames MTB is back and running, I hope to hit some trails very soon on it. Since the move I love much farther than before from the trails. <--- bummer!

check out my www.650bpalace.com site for images of the James Frames bike.
I'll photo my "dock" tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow also bring the 1 year Aniversary of the Tampa Bay Bike Co-Op, which I've been volunteering the last few months. I'll be attending with my gear, to fix some bicycles. The Co-Op is opening it's new location tomorrow.
